Custom Wedding Cakes
Every wedding cake should reflect the personality and
style of the bride. It should also match the theme of your
reception. The cake should not only be deliciously
fresh, but tasteful and unique.
| It is recommended that you search wedding cake photo galleries to get some great ideas for your cake. Also, you can make list and get recommendations from friends or brides in your area. For inspiration, consider your own personal style, the wedding location, season of the year, favorite color or flower, or your wedding gown for the style of your wedding cake. |
Order your wedding cake six months to a year in advance. A year, especially if you want a well-known confectioner. If your on a tight budget, check to see whether your caterer can make your cake. Doing this would comit you to a simple design, unless the caterer is also an experienced confectioner.
| Determine how many guests you'll be serving, before you meet with a confectioner. The price of a wedding cake is calculated by the number of servings and level of design. You should add 10 servings if you are planning to keep the wedding cake top tier. The normal serving size for a piece of wedding cake is 4" x 2". |
When meeting with your confectioner it's a good idea to bring photos
of the cakes you like, swatches of your dress, special jewels or flowers,
or images of your reception site. Definately ask to sample some
cakes and fillings they use to ensure your wedding cake will taste
as good as it looks.
